About HSA Group
Environment
‘We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children'
- Origin unknown
Doing what we can to reduce our carbon footprint and create a ‘greener' organisation is a major priority for the HSA Group.
To drive our environmental agenda and provide ongoing monitoring of ways to cut carbon emissions and waste and save energy and water, we have appointed an ‘HSA Group Environmental Champion' and established ‘green committees'.
Our everyday work practices include practical measures to save energy and water and cut waste, from installing water saving devices and low energy fluorescent globes in our buildings, to recycling measures and printing documents double-sided.
We have also instigated a number of additional initiatives to cut carbon emissions, such as:
- signing on to Greenfleet , a not-for-profit organisation that plants native trees to reduce the impact of cars on the environment
- mandating that all future fleet cars to be rated as ‘Five Star' under the Australian Government's Green Vehicle Guide
- introducing incentives to encourage senior staff to select ‘Five Star' vehicles when choosing a company car, and
- buying green energy (where practicable).
The HSA Group sees the environmental challenge as one requiring long term commitment and focus and we will continue to encourage, support and invest in practical measures to help protect the environment.
