Staff community fund
Through our HSA Group Staff Community Fund, we actively encourage and support our staff to be involved with their communities.
Launched in 2006, the fund provides grants to HSA Group employees who wish to support a charitable, social, sporting or cultural good cause in their community.
Since its inception, the Staff Community Fund has donated over $150 000 to more than 80 local community projects across Australia . Examples of some of these projects can be found below.
The Kumbari Avenue School , QLD: established in 1970, the school assists children with severe multiple disabilities. They used a grant to buy a sling tracking system to safely lower children into their hydrotherapy pool, which is used for mobility exercises and physiotherapy. |

Indian Cultural Society of the NT: sponsorship of the Mindil Beach annual cultural event to help the Indian Cultural Society foster multicultural awareness and showcase sociocultural perspectives among the local community. |
Queanbeyan City Rural Fire Brigade, NSW: One of the first projects the Community Fund helped was the upgrading of a NSW Rural Fire Service communication bus which attends fires and acts as a control centre for the fires in the rural areas surrounding Queanbeyan. |

Grassroots disability support services, WA: we contributed funding for playground equipment at Grassroots, a facility providing respite, socialisation and recreational activities for people with disabilities and their families. |
Under 19s Men's World Lacrosse Championships, Vic: we helped fund the team kit for the Australian under 19s men's lacrosse team—they did Australia proud finishing 5th in the 2008 World Championships in Canada . |

Adelaide Christmas Party for Special Children, SA: for 13 years the Salvation Army has helped more than 29 000 SA children with special needs enjoy this special Christmas event—we're delighted to contribute funds for the 2008 Christmas party. |
| Darwin Surf Life Saving Club, NT:funding was used to purchase a specialised surf board for use in training and competition. The club conducts an extensive training program from Pee Wees to juniors and seniors, and members regularly compete in national and local competitions. | ![]() |

Oliver Collins Appeal, QLD: supporting the fund raising efforts of the Pat Carroll Running Group to purchase a motorised beach wheelchair for Oliver Collins, a 14 year old with an extremely rare disease of the connective tissues, and to heat the family swimming pool which is used for his daily hydrotherapy sessions. | The Lighthouse Film Society, Tas: this volunteer theatre group provides community entertainment activities to raise cultural awareness through film evenings targeting a wide audience that includes children, adults and aged care residences.
