Welcome to the HSA Group's on-line appointments for Immigration Visa medical examinations. This page contains the information and conditions you need to make an appointment online for a visa medical appointment.

The HSA Group undertakes medical examinations on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Please note that DIAC only accepts medical examinations that are conducted by the HSA Group for visa applications.

Please note: Immigration medicals are an assessment of health and are therefore NOT covered by private health insurance.

Making family appointments

Our on-line appointment service allows you to make only one appointment at a time.

These are separate appointment dates and times and they may not be suitable if you need appointments for several family members.

To make a family appointment, please telephone your nearest HSA Group office by calling 1300 361 046. When you call the HSA Group to make your family medical appointments, our staff will ensure that you and your family have appointments that suit your requirements.

What is required to make an appointment on-line?

To successfully complete an on-line booking you will need the following:

  • DIAC forms
  • Current and valid passport of the person requiring the visa medical examination appointment.
  • Current E-mail address for emailing of your receipt

E-mail address confidentiality: if you make an on-line appointment:

  1. We will take this to signify that you agree to receive your appointment details and your receipt via e-mail
  2. In any event your appointment details will also be displayed on screen after the appointment has been made
  3. If for any reason you do not receive your confirming e-mail you can always check your appointment details by ringing the HSA office at which you requested your appointment
  • A credit card accepted by the HSA Group (Visa, MasterCard or Bankcard)
  • It is a DIAC requirement that the HSA Group take a digital photo of each person applying for a visa. Please do not attach a photo to any of the forms: 26, or 160.

Please Note:

  • All transactions are conducted in Australian dollars (AUD).
  • HSA Group uses a VeriSign digital certificate to ensure the security of your Internet transaction.
  • HSA Group cannot provide refunds over the Internet. If a refund is required you must bring the following to your closest HSA office:
    • Your Receipt
    • The credit card used for payment

What type of HSA Medical Examination do I require?

The examination you require depends on the type of visa you are applying for:

  • Permanent Visa
  • Temporary Visa
  • Student Visa

DIAC Forms required for medical examination

DIAC forms

  • The following forms can be obtained from your nearest DIAC office or from the DIAC web site.
  • Form 26 - Medical Examination for an Australian Visa
  • Form 160 - Radiological report on chest x-ray for an Australian visa - If you are required to have a chest x-ray you must complete Part A and Part E of this form. If you are pregnant or believe that you may be pregnant, you must tell the radiologist.

Please Note: Children 10 years and younger do not normally require a chest x-ray.

What type of Visa do I require?

What Information do I need to enter for an on-line appointment?

You are required to enter the following information to complete an on-line appointment:

  • Selection of the HSA office nearest to you
  • Personal details: name, date of birth and address of the person requiring a medical appointment
  • Your E-mail address
  • The type of visa you are applying for: Permanent / Temporary / Student
  • Your preferred date and time for your appointment
  • Your credit card details (Please Note: Your credit card details are not stored by HSA)

What do I need to bring to the HSA Medical Examination?

You are required to bring the following items to your medical appointment:

  • DIAC forms - completed as instructed by DIAC
  • Current and valid passport of the person attending the medical examination
  • Credit card used for the payment
  • Payment receipt
  • Eye glasses or contact lenses (if you wear eye glasses or contact lenses)
  • Medical doctor reports (if you have any)

It is not necessary for you to fast prior to your appointment and/or blood test. Please ensure that you keep up a normal intake of food and water/fluids. Also, if possible, please do not go to the toilet immediately before your appointment as you will be required to give a urine sample.

Is my spoken English adequate?

If your spoken English is not adequate to discuss your medical details with the doctor please bring a friend or family member with you, to assist during your medical examination.

Please Note: If the doctor cannot understand you, you will be required to make another appointment and bring someone with you who can speak English sufficiently to be able to help with the medical examination.

Please Note: if you have had a Chest X-Ray by Health Services Australia onshore in Australia in the past 12 months, relating to an Immigration medical, then you will need to telephone for your appointment rather than book the appointment on line please.
